Hi, I’m Dr. Mark Knoefel from Oasis Orthodontics, where smiles come to life.
The other day I was sitting right back there, chair number four, treating wonderful ten-year-old boy. Real nice kid. Wonderful mom. And you know what? She mentioned to me, “My sisters and brothers all had orthodontics when they were younger, but I never had orthodontic treatment.” And she’s like, “Yeah, I kind of don’t like how these front teeth look. They’re kind of crowded. So I was thinking maybe, I don’t know, maybe do Invisalign or something.” And I said, “Okay, great. Then let’s talk.” She looked me like, “You can do that?” I was like, “Why wouldn’t I?” “Well, my son goes to a pediatric dentist and she referred him to you, so I thought you were like a pediatric orthodontist that you pretty much just treated kids.”
And I was like, wow, that’s a great question. Because at the end of the day, why wouldn’t you think that? But as specialists in orthodontics, we have experience treating kids and we have experience treating teenagers, adults, and even older adults. So really there is no such thing as a pediatric orthodontist. Some orthodontists maybe preferred focusing more on kids and some prefer focusing more on adults. But if you’re looking for orthodontic treatment for yourself or for your child, go see an orthodontist. In fact, come see us here at Oasis Orthodontics, 780-457-5566. Be sure to check out our other videos on our YouTube channel. One of the questions that we’re going to answer is, is my child too young to see the orthodontist? Stay tuned.
Send us a note and we will answer it when we release new videos.
